Be Outspoken - Leeds Pride Event
When: 3 August 18:30 – 21:30
Where: The Carriageworks Theatre, Millennium Square The Electric Press, LS2 3AD Leeds
What: Be Outspoken – Everyone is invited however If you’re Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic (BAME) & LGBTQ then Be Outspoken is the Official Leeds Pride event for you!
Pride is about celebrating our identities in a world where there are added challenges and barriers in growing up LGBTQ. These challenges are different for people from BAME backgrounds and we realise that a lot of people feel like there is “no room” for them in existing spaces.
Be Outspoken asks you to come together in advance of Leeds Pride to celebrate your identity – maybe you want to vent the frustrations of growing up feeling like an outsider, maybe you want to start a conversation about how you reconcile faith and LGBTQ identity, maybe you want to reach out to others. Whatever you do, we want you to express yourself and your views within a 5-10 minute time frame via 1) starting a conversation, 2) presenting a spoken word piece, 3) song 4) or any other art form of your choosing to the audience regarding your feelings of identifying as both BAME & LGBTQ. Ultimately, we want you to feel Pride in who you are, to be supported and to be outspoken!
This event acknowledges the generous support of the Leeds LGBT Pride Community Grant and Manchester Airport.
The event is FREE – but please reserve an Eventbrite ticket to ensure a place. Thank you!
