The Tobin Tax Network Millions upon millions of dollars, euro, pounds and yen are traded every day - mainly by banks. Imagine now, adding together everything that is bought and sold in the world -- like all food, housing and transport. The money trade is worth more than 50 times the value of all these other markets combined. Even a tiny tax on this enormous pile of money could bring millions of the world's poorest people out of poverty -- providing them with clean water, medicines and education. www.tobintax.org.uk
The World Development Movement tackles the root causes of world poverty. WDM campaigns for fairer world trade, regulating multinationals and cancelling Third World debt. www.wdm.org.uk
