LATEST NEWS: Council APPROVES airport expansion
 

Welcome to the No Leeds Bradford Airport Expansion campaign.

Just before Christmas Leeds Bradford Airport submitted a planning application that would permit a major increase in passenger numbers, and therefore flights, and consequently climate change emissions! That application is due to be decided by Leeds City Council in March.

We think these expansion plans are potty. Flying is one of the major causes of climate change, so increasing the number of passengers from 2.9 million to 5 million in only 4 years is just insane. It would make a nonsense of the new Climate Change Act which commits us to a radical reduction (note: a reduction, not an increase) in the UK’s carbon emissions over the next few decades.

Unless we want to inflict misery on our children, grandchildren and millions of other vulnerable people, we need to say NO to schemes like this, and say it loud and clear.
